Postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Economics and Management of the University of Pisa, and term lecturer in economic history at the Instituto de Estudios Bursátiles, Madrid.

He holds a BA in Political Science from the University of Queensland (Australia), a MA in International Economic Relations from the University of Guadalajara (Mexico), and a PhD in Economic History from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. His research focuses on the economic history of international trade, with particular emphasis on the welfare effects of trade policies and the historical evolution of the world market for tropical commodities.
